We do not believe any dogs should be caged in kennel runs or left on a chain. We have a breeding program guided by the passion for the breed and with that comes the greatest concern for the dog's quality of life.
Our dogs spend all their time in pastures with lots of space to be dogs. NOT cooped up and miserable.
They have calf hutches with pallets inside them with rubber stall mats and shaving on top of the pallets to keep them elevated and dry. They also have run-in shelters in their pastures.
They have pools and troughs in the summer to help keep them cool when shade is limited.
They do wonderful and manage all the seasons in most environments. We do, however, get the occasional hurricane, hail, and temps with high humidity over 100 degrees sometimes with the humidity making it even worse. In those cases, although they can muster through all that, as their mama, I worry to death and made the investment of indoor/outdoor, heated and cooled kennels that are 5’x10’ in each kennel, to be sure they are safe. They actually enjoy going in them as the kennels are equipped with cots, shavings, water buckets, and toys. Today’s forecast has hail and wind gusts of over 60 mph with the threat of tornadoes and flood warnings. So off to the kennels we go for my peace of mind.
If you’re looking for kennels for your crew, check out Bruiser Kennels. Pricing is great and they can do custom work on them to suit your needs. Don’t even get me started on the 2 absolutely heavenly whelping kennels we bought for our mama dogs too. They also helped us with metal 20’x21’ run-in shelters for the horses as well!
If you’re looking for calf hutches for giant breed dogs….check out Calf-Tel for retailers in your area.
